But only Jafar/Aisyah were able to show their impressive results at the 2023 Indonesia Masters. Even though they started from the qualifying round, they were able to make it to the quarterfinals.
In addition, the opponent they faced was also not arbitrary. In the second half for example. Jafar/Aisyah got rid of the Malaysian doubles which were the second seeds of Indonesia Masters Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing. Even though they had to play hard through the rubber game, they finally won 21-15, 7-21, 21-14.
Jafar/Aisyah’s progress was only stopped by China’s mixed doubles Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping, 13-21, 13-21 in the last eight.
Meanwhile, the three pairs that were seniors stopped in the early rounds. From the start, Zachariah/Bella was eliminated in the first round by Gregory Mairs/Jenny Moore (England) in two straight games 15-21, 16-21.
Rehan/Lisa experienced a similar fate, who were stopped by the Japanese pair Kyohei Yamashita/Naru Shinoya. The Hylo Open 2022 champion lost to Kyohei/Naru with a score of 16-21, 18-21.
Then Rinov/Phita who were the seventh seeds were also defeated by the unseeded pair from China Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping in the second round. They lost badly 16-21, 8-21.
“Jafar/Aisyah must be a motivation for their older siblings. In the quarterfinals they lost their strength but in the previous round, Jafar/Aisyah were able to beat players at a much higher level,” said Rionny in the evaluation release published by PBSI.
“This is a challenge for Rinov/Phita and the others to work harder and be more persistent in competing. Don’t want to lose to your younger sibling,” said Rionny.
