General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf admits that he just heard the news of the General Treasurer of PBNU Mardani H Maming status as a suspect in a corruption case investigated by the KPK. He said his party would hold a press conference regarding this incident.
“So we will prescon (press conference) later as it should be according to existing norms, both legally and in the context of internal norms PBNU,” said Yahya during the NU Centenary Commemoration event at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (20/6/2022).
Gus Yahya, as he is familiarly called, admitted that he only heard the news about Mardani Maming through the news. He didn’t even know what was going on with Mardani Maming.
“We have heard the news but we will study it later, because this is only today. Right now we do not know in detail how the matter actually sits, we will study it later,” he explained.
PBNU Will Provide Legal Aid
PBNU, said Gus Yahya, has yet to communicate with Maming after being a suspect. But he made sure to accompany Maming.
“No, there has been no communication. Oh, yes it is clear, later of course we will provide assistance as appropriate,” said Gus Yahya.
