PBNU Sets Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1 Syawal 1443 H Fall on 2 May

Jakarta

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) set 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijri or Eid al-Fitr (Eid 2022) to fall on Monday, May 2, 2022. The determination was made after the new moon was declared visible.

“The beginning of the month of Shawwal 1443 Hijriah fell on Monday Pon, May 2, 2022,” said PBNU Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf, Sunday (1/5/2022).

PBNU wishes you a happy Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri or Lebaran 2022. PBNU apologizes physically and mentally.

“We wish you a happy Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri with great joy and still adhere to health protocols and apologize physically and mentally,” he said.

The government itself will determine 1 Shawwal 1443 H through an isbat session held by the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag). The decision on 1 Shawwal 1443 H will be taken after the participants of the isbat session have listened to the presentation of the position of the new moon.

For information, the initial determination of Syawal now follows the new criteria of MABIMS (Minister of Religion of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore). Imkanur rukyat is considered qualified when the position of the crescent reaches a height of 3 degrees with an elongation angle of 6.4 degrees.

This criterion is an update from the previous criteria, namely 2 degrees with an elongation angle of 3 degrees which received input and criticism.

This determination also means that the celebrations of Eid al-Fitr PBNU and Muhammadiyah will be held simultaneously. Muhammadiyah had previously set Eid 1443 H to fall on May 2.
