PBNU says minister Gilbert wasn’t just joking, Bachrum Achmadi: Turns out his joke wasn’t very funny

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Bachrum Achmadi, social media activist (Medsos), expressed his disappointment with the reaction of the Nahdlatul Ulama Governing Board (PBNU) regarding the case involving Pastor Gilbert Lumoindong .

In a statement, Bachrum expressed his disappointment with PBNU’s request that Pastor Gilbert not be policed.

The reason was that the priest’s words were only a joke.

“According to the PBNU, Pastor Gilbert was just kidding,” said Bachrum in his statement on the claim X @bachrum_achmadi (21/4/2024).

Bachrum explained that this request showed that PBNU’s version of the joke was not funny to him.

“It turns out that PBNU’s version of the joke is not very funny,” he said.

Even though he was disappointed, Bachrum invited the public to think wisely about the speech that went well.

This case has raised a debate in society regarding the boundaries between jokes and hate speech, as well as the responsibilities of religious people in delivering speeches to the congregation.

Previously, Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Chairman Ahmad Fahrur Rozi responded to Pastor Gilbert Lumoindong’s report to Polda Metro Jaya regarding a controversial speech that touched on zakat and prayer.

Fahrur Rozi asked that Pastor Gilbert would not be policed ​​for the speech.

In his statement, Fahrur Rozi said that Pastor Gilbert had admitted that he was wrong and apologized.

He also confirmed that preachers sometimes tell jokes in the preaching process.
