PBNU asks Ade Armando not to raise identity politics: damage to the unity of the Republic of Indonesia

Jakarta

PBNU criticizes Hades Armando on the declaration of Christian voters and on Anies Baswedan’s chances of winning the presidential elections of 2024. PBNU asks Hades Armando did not raise the question of identity politics.

“PBNU believes that Ade Armando should not raise the issue of Christian identity in politics because it would harm Christians. If you have the perception that Christians have to deal with other groups politically, the consequences will be very dangerous for the future of the Christians themselves. . religious identity in politics is very important, dangerous to the integrity of the nation, “PBNU Deputy Secretary General Sulaeman Tanjung said in a written statement on Friday (11/4/2022).

Sulaeman firmly rejects the use of identity politics in political contestation. He urged all parties to remain calm and not be provoked.

“The PBNU opposes the use of identity politics in presidential and regional elections, because this method will damage the integrity of the nation and the United Republic of Indonesia. The PBNU urges all parties not to be provoked by the question of religious identity or other issues that will divide the integrity of this nation, “he wrote.

Ade Armando’s statement was previously uploaded to CokroTV’s YouTube under the title “Ade Armando: IF CHRISTIAN VOICES SHARE, ANIES WILL WIN”. The video aired today on Twitter.

What stands out in the Hades video is’ if Christians are mocked, Anies will fail. If the voices of Christians are divided, Anies will enter the presidency. ‘ Ade Armando explained further.

“Regarding my video, voters in 2024 will most likely determine that the end result will be Christian voters,” said Ade, who is also a lecturer at the University of Indonesia (UI).

According to him, the number of Muslim voters for Anies and Ganjar Pranowo is very competitive. However, if Christian voters are not united, this is an advantage for Anies.

“If Christians are divided, it is very likely that Anies will win. For example 50:50 or 60:40, even if Ganjar gets 60%, it is still possible that Anies will win,” Ade said.

The Anies camp is considered to be well aware of the significance of the votes of Christian voters. Hence, an approach was taken to attract the voices of Christians.

“I want to remind Christian friends, I don’t want to be used that way,” Ade said.

This claim has sparked criticism. Hades does not accept being called a divisor.

“I do not accept being called divisive. It is the Anies camp that continues to use religious symbols to get people to vote for Anies,” Ade Armando told detik.comThursday (3/11/2022).

This social media activist explained that the parties that divide are the ones that use identity politics to win their mission. Furthermore, Hades does not feel like an actor in identity politics.

“This is not identity politics. For example, if I say I choose Anies or Ganjar Pranowo for religious or ethnic reasons, this is identity politics,” Ade said.

Ade wants all presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election to fight for ideas, prioritize relationships, not use religion. Ade said he would fight identity politics.
