PB HMI Denies Calling for Jokowi’s Demo to Surround the Palace-DPR

Executive Board of the Indonesian Student Association (PB HMI) leader Raihan Ariatama denied instructing the General Chairperson of the Indonesian HMI Coordinating Board (Badko) to hold an action ahead of two years of leadership. Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin.

“Regarding that there are friends who issued PB HMI instructions in accordance with those circulating, that’s why we denied it because we didn’t discuss it internally,” Head of PB HMI’s Social and Community Welfare Division led by Raihan Ariatama, Imam R. Nasution told CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (4/8).

According to Imam, instead of holding demonstrations, his party encourages all HMI cadres to support the government which has been working to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Focusing on working together, breaking the chain of the spread of Covid-19,” he said.

PB HMI Raihan Ariatama has also issued instructions so that all HMI Coordinating Boards (Bakdo) throughout Indonesia remain solid in supporting the leadership of the results of the 31st Congress in Surabaya City.

This is contained in the letter of instruction with the head of PB HMI NO. 134/A/SEK/12/1442 H dated August 4, 2021. The letter was signed by the General Chairperson, Raihan Ariatama and his Secretary General, M. Ichya Halimudin.

This instruction was issued in response to a letter of instruction signed by the Acting Officer. General Chairman Abd. Muis Amiruddin and M. Akbar Hanubun who also share the name of the leadership of PB HMI.

“The Coordination Board (Badko) of HMI and HMI Branches throughout Indonesia maintains solidity under the legal and constitutional leadership of the results of the 31st HMI Congress in Surabaya City, East Java Province on March 17-25, 2021,” as quoted from the letter of instruction issued CNNIndonesia.com received, Wednesday (4/8).

The instruction letter also asked Badko HMI and HMI Branches throughout Indonesia to form volunteers to handle Covid-19 to help people affected by the pandemic.

“Badko HMI and HMI Branches throughout Indonesia to form Covid-19 Handling Volunteers to help people affected by Covid-19,” the letter wrote.

Previously, PB HMI led by Abd. Muis invited HMI cadres to take to the streets to criticize the government in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. This action also coincided with the two years of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin’s leadership.

PB HMI led by Pj. Abdul Muis Amiruddin then asked HMI cadres in the regions to take action on August 6-13. The recommended action points range from the State Palace to the House of Representatives.
