Financial services platform PayPal temporarily blocked by the Indonesian government. This makes PayPal users in Indonesia confused because they cannot make transactions on the platform. The users’ money ends up stuck there.
In response to this, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) believes payments at PayPal will still come in. Then the users’ money will remain.
“If payments can still come in, they just can’t open their services. Their money will still be recorded,” said the Director General of Aptika at the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, to detik.comSaturday (30/7/2022).

Then related to the disbursement of funds in PayPal, Sammy provides a number of solutions. First, for disbursement of funds, you can send an email to PayPal and at the same time inquire about the fate of their accounts.
“Secondly, if we can’t, we can help together. You can report it to the Kominfo. You can send an email to the Kominfo, we’ll open it later, we’ll help,” he said.
Third, if it is related to the loss of funds experienced by the user PayPal can be reported to the Consumers Institute. So, according to Sammy again, the responsibility lies with PayPal.
“The money is closed in PayPal. But we also help to return the funds, because it is PayPal’s obligation to return the funds,” he said.
Even so, Sammy explained that if the PayPal blocking was to be lifted, PayPal had to apply for a permit at Bank Indonesia (BI) and register for Private Electronic System Operators (PSES).
“There is no time limit (blocking PayPal). If they meet the requirements (process BI and PSE permits) it will be opened again,” he said.
