These days, thousands of pensioners in the O’Higgins region saw the Fiestas Patrias bonus reflected in their pension payments for September, which in 2024 amounts to 24,261 pesos, plus 12,446 for the charge credited as of August 31.
The regional minister for Labor and Social Security, Jaime Chamorro, told El Rancagüino that “the Christmas bonus is a benefit that extends to more than 2.2 million pensioners nationwide and more than 72 billion pesos have been allocated for this.”
He added that “you do not apply for this benefit, just by receiving a pension it will be reflected in your settlement and it will be paid no matter what before September 18.”
At the regional level, 145 thousand bonuses are to be paid, with an amount of 3.5 billion pesos to be transferred to users.
AVOID SCAMS DURING BONUS TIME
For her part, the regional director of the Social Security Institute (IPS), Tatiana Ramírez, told El Rancagüino that it is also necessary to make a call to avoid falling into telephone or WhatsApp scams, which increase precisely during the payment of bonuses such as the Christmas bonus. “We are constantly campaigning to alert citizens because this has indeed proliferated. The call is not to give personal data, bank account data to anyone, never the IPS and no public institution will ask for this personal data,” she said.
It is worth noting that the director recalled that the bonus is paid in various ways, both in person and by deposit into accounts, therefore, those who withdraw their pension in person are recommended to attend accompanied to avoid complications.
