Leaving your job in the spring of 2020 without guarantee of being able to continue your action after the general elections of 2021, this is the dilemma looming for candidates interested in integrating the Municipality of Payerne following the election of Christelle Luisier Brodard to the Council State. But, even if the position is counted part-time and the union at 80%, the Payernois should be offered a triangular this spring.
“The PLR will naturally claim this seat and the union. To do this, a process of meeting potential candidates has already been launched by the committee, ”explains Franck Magnenat, president of the section of Payerne. Which profile is sought? “Regardless of gender, we are looking for a candidate who is aware of the investment required and has good political knowledge.”
Call for candidates
While the PLR has four out of five municipal officials and 38 municipal councilors out of 70 seats, a tacit election seems irrelevant. “We have launched a call for applications until early next week. For the PSIP, which holds 19 seats on the Council, the names of Philippe Savary, already a candidate in 2016, but especially of the lawyer Sébastien Pedroli, MP and group leader, circulate in particular. A candidate for the National Council last fall, UDC Jocelyn Canope should also be there. “There is a good chance that the UCD will present someone and the function interests me,” said the current president of the municipal council, where his party occupies eleven seats.
Favorite PLR
Still, the big favorite of this complement will necessarily be the candidate launched by the PLR. And, there, the noises of corridor indicate several interested parties, like the municipal councilors Roland Bucher, Christian Gauthier and Diana Cruz, the former municipal Jacques Henchoz, the president of the Brandons Sylvain Hostettler or the former president of the target shooters Pascal Maillat.
Like the last named, the first two clearly answer no when asked the question of a candidate. President of SIC merchants, the only lady on the panel whose name is rustling in town is not yet pronounced.
Quite the opposite of Jacques Henchoz, municipal from 2011 to 2016, who has already expressed his motivation. “I did not start again in 2016 for professional reasons, but I regret it because I loved this function,” he confirms to justify a possible return. As for Sylvain Hostettler, he has already hinted that the 125th edition of the Brandons, from February 28 to March 2, will be his last. “For now, this is my priority, but I have never hidden my interest in Payerne,” said the former municipal councilor.
