Starbreeze’s upcoming Payday 3 is set in New York and the original gang is returning for the new installment.
The company announced some new details about the game during one Livestreams on the occasion of the franchise’s ten-year birthday. Director Erik Wonnevi confirmed the new information about the location and cast.
After the end of Payday 2
Payday 3 is slated for release in 2023 and is set to take place several years after Payday 2 has ended. “The gang is withdrawing, but not of its own accord,” they say.
At the same time, Wonnevi confirms that the gang from the first part is in Payday 3: “Dallas, Hoxton, Chains and Wolf celebrate their glorious return to the robberies.”
What Payday 3 is about
The story of the third part will deal with the dark web and cryptocurrencies, among other things.
“Payday has moved into the digital age, so software giants, cryptocurrencies, mass surveillance and the dark web will be reflected in future updates to gadgets.”
Unfortunately, there was no gameplay from Payday 3, but there was artwork of the four characters and a robbery in New York, where the game begins, according to Wonnevi.
A specific release date other than 2023 is not yet known. The game is published together with Koch Media’s label Prime Matter as a partner.
