Just a few days before the release of Payday 3, developers from Starbreeze Studios announced that they have dropped the inclusion of Denuvo anti-piracy protection. It’s nothing new for developers to remove this protection from their games later, but it’s usually right after release. In this case, however, the decision was made just before the actual launch. Briefly but clearly.
Hello heisters,
We want to inform you that Denuvo is no longer in PAYDAY 3.
We look forward to seeing you in New York City!
Happy heisting! 👊😎 pic.twitter.com/729ezTJm6K

“We would like to inform you that Denuvo is no longer a part of Payday 3. We look forward to seeing you in New York City!” the studio wrote on Steam and on its social networks. This decision is appreciated by fans and upcoming players, as can be read under the post on Steam and on the networks, which is not too surprising given the reputation that precedes the protection. After all, critical responses to the inclusion of Denuvo appeared precisely in connection with Payday 3, as players were afraid of a negative impact on the performance of the game and they emphatically expressed their displeasure, for example, on the game’s Reddit r/paydaytheheist. Irdeto, the company behind Denuv, continues to push back against the performance-related criticisms, but hasn’t convinced players yet. However, those who get to play Payday 3 next week can rest assured, at least in that regard. Some people don’t even like the constant need for a connection that remains valid.
Payday 3 is released on September 21, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. As always, you can find more information about the game and other recent news in our archive.
