Starbreeze Studios published brief, but important information about the upcoming shooter Payday 3. She posted the first image of the game and said that the project is currently in the design stage and will use the Unreal Engine.
Previous games in the series were developed using the Diesel engine. But in the new part, Starbreeze Studios decided to abandon it in favor of a more convenient and versatile solution. After all, Payday 3 is the main project of a company that survived massive financial turmoil in recent years. The unpleasant situation forced the management to sell some of the studio’s assets, including the rights to publish System Shock 3 and Psychonauts 2.
The latest financial report, which Starbreeze Studios provided in June, indicated that development for Payday 3 began in October 2019 with a 45-person core team. The key goal of the project will be to expand the already huge Payday community – it currently has over 28 million players. Payday 3 will be coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox at the same time, unlike Payday 2, which has arrived very late on consoles.
The estimated release window for Payday 3 is 2022 or 2023.
