Samsung has just announced that the Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro Edition will be available in limited quantities in South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and Australia starting this Wednesday (November 1). A tribute to the 2003 classic
According to Samsung’s explanation, the Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro Edition was originally a tribute to the brand’s classic foldable phone SGH-E700. This foldable phone launched in 2003 had a rather unconventional technological innovation at the time. It was Samsung’s first mobile phone with a built-in antenna. At that time, a Norwegian newspaper praised the SGH-E700 as the flagship of mobile phones, and this mobile phone also helped Samsung win the favor of many consumers when Nokia dominated the market.

Although the Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro Edition is a product of 2023, Samsung has also tried to inject some SGH-E700 elements, such as using a similar dark blue with silver body, and adding the 2000s pixel style in the user interface. Reinterpreted, the special edition also has exclusive animation. The Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro Edition’s package includes a Flipsuit phone case and a set of collectible cards, which contain the Samsung trademarks of all generations, and each phone has a unique number.
