In the last few weeks a new scam has been spreading: it is the 6-digit code scam. The criminals pretend to be a known contact, whose identity they have already stolen, using the same name and profile picture as WhatsApp.
A message is sent where the victim is explained that due to a problem his account will be blocked and for this reason he is asked to enter a 6-digit code that arrives by sms. Here comes the scam: once the user enters the code the hacker takes control of the device and uses the new profile to continue stealing the identities and data of others.
