Retailing is all about being close to your customer. You can see your customers react instantly to your idea. As you create a strategy for about a year, you need to breathe life into it every day. It is a dynamic industry where decisions must be made every day. This is what I love the most about my job. We’re still a student here. What worked for you today may not work for you tomorrow. It brings out a childish curiosity in me.
I would like to see more players and more retail penetration in India. It is still very small compared to many other countries.
Weekdays
My day begins with a review of the reports: seeing what has been done well and what can be improved. I usually spend half an hour doing this. I also look forward to thinking with my team; there is a lot of brainstorming at work. I love to interact with my young teammates. There is so much to learn from them and their perspectives. They don’t come with any bias or history.
Coffee breaks are the best for recharging your batteries. Now is the time for me to reunite with my team, talk about trips, movies, food, etc., and exchange notes. I make sure not to talk about work at this time. It’s my way of keeping up to date with “trends” in the city.
The weekend
Weekends are devoted to outings with friends and family. I like going to all the places that are happening in the city (I don’t miss any!). I also like to watch something interesting on Netflix. An afternoon nap is a must; It energizes me for the week to come.
Toys
I’m not really the gadget type. The phone is enough for me. I love to read and prefer to catch up with the real world instead.
Logos
I love to shop and do almost all the shopping for my whole family (including groceries). Zara is my favorite brand. I can spend a whole day in the store. Some of the other brands that I admire are Zomato and Durex (for its marketing moment).
