Actress Pavla Vitázková (44) spoke in the 13th room about the serious illness that her older daughter Bára is suffering from. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of eight. Bára has to inject herself daily before meals, and she says she can do it herself. And although the little girl is clever and self-sufficient, it is not easy for her parents.
You may know Pavla Vitázková from series such as The Last Sacrifice, Hlava Meduzy or VIP murders. She chose a theater man as her partner hby Dušan Vitázek, with whom he has two daughters, Rozália and Barbora. Unfortunately, last summer her older daughter Bára started to have health problems, which gradually worsened. Her illness was fully manifested this year, when the little girl ended up in the intensive care unit. Doctors diagnosed her with type 1 diabetes.
The story of the little Baroness
“It started last summer. The Baroness was always like not fat, but kind of fit, and suddenly she started losing weight very quickly. She was terribly thirsty on top of that, so I thought there must be something wrong.” she began to tell Pavla her daughter’s story. Gradually, her behavior also began to change, especially at school. The teacher noticed it too. “In the first week of September, Barunka came to school and we immediately said what was going on, because she was depressed, not talking, and always tired. Before, she was full everywhere, and suddenly she wasn’t,” spoke Bára’s teacher in Pavla Vitázková’s 13th room.
To make matters worse for their daughter, the parents decided to divorce. “At the end of August, we talked to both girls at the cottage. We said that we would each go our own way and that we would always be there for them, but no longer like dad and mom. Six-year-old Rozárka took it with a smile, but eight-year-old Barunka knew of course , what’s happening,” Vitázková went on to describe the unpleasant life situation.
Fear for my daughter’s life
Logically, she attributed her daughter’s strange behavior to a difficult life situation. But she was quickly led astray. “And then I thought it was too much for her and she was having some kind of mental collapse. She was breathing terribly fast and sweating and falling asleep at the same time. We already took her to the hospital.” she said. At the hospital, the doctors recognized that it was diabetes. “I was most worried about her before the diagnosis. That was the biggest moment of fear,” added the girls’ father, Dušan Vitázek.
When the parents learned that Bára would have to inject insulin every day, of course it was not pleasant for them at all. But gradually they learned it. “A person’s greatest fear is the environment. At school, at training…The fact that we can handle it is counted on, but it is extremely important that the environment accepts it well,” added Dušan in conclusion.
