Pavel, how do you perceive that age?
In fairness, who doesn’t want to be younger, right? But when it’s been here for three-quarters of a century, I think, what the hell, so what. My father Beďa lived well into his nineties, so maybe something nice is still waiting for me.
People like to perceive you as a Zlín native baptized Drevnica, but that would need a little correction…
Don’t worry, I was born a little further away, in the small village of Hoštice-Heroltice, but as a little boy I traveled with my parents to Zlín na Mokrau and from here, but not only from here, I have the best boyhood and youth experiences, including studying at the Leather Industry College , where I smelled the theater anyway.
Did you lick what’s called alotria, were you a badass?
I was a normal lively boy, as my lifelong friend Miloš Zaorálek will confirm. We used to goof around a little bit, but we played a lot of sports, for example on a frozen pond, I still call him duck, it was hockey battles.
Do you always like to return to your Zlín?
I’m still happy, as time allows, I really like to play theater here, reminisce with my friends. And I’ll play tennis too.
This was an example last fall, when you excelled at the exhibition with Miloš Mečíř on the occasion of 100 years of Zlín tennis…
Damn, that was nice, but Miloš is still somehow better, he was one of the world’s best for nothing and won the Olympics in Seoul, I think it was in 1988, my God, it flies…
Do you therefore also perceive Zlín sport?
Sure, take my word for it, we’re first in both hockey and football. Well, currently in the second leagues, but we’re going up, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
We, in turn, hold them for you so that you always prosper and never lack strength. Are they missing?
So far so good, I act in theater, shoot series and fairy tales on television, I host the show Everything is Possible, so everything is possible. Thanks for the wishes and see you again sometime in Zlín! I still like him very much.
