Pavel Trávníček about the fairy tale Three Nuts for Cinderella – eXtra.cz

Cinderella with Libuška Šafránková († 68) has already become an integral part of Czech Christmas. No one can imagine Christmas Eve without this beautiful fairy tale. In an interview with Czech Television, Pavel Trávníček (71) or the Prince of Cinderella recalled the filming of Václav Vorlíček’s fairy tale and revealed whether they had known Libuška before.

Cinderella is a beautiful girl who lives with her bad stepmother and half-sister Dora. While the mother and daughter are preparing for the royal ball, Cinderella must take care of the farm. Because Dora wants to be beautiful for the prince, she sends her mother family Vincka (Vladimir Mensik) to the city for fabrics and jewelry. Cinderella also wants her to bring her what stinks into his nose along the way. Grooming brings her three magic nuts that hide what the girl just needs…

How long after filming Cinderella did you realize that this beautiful fairy tale had become a legend?

During the filming itself, it didn’t seem like anything special. On the contrary! We did not succeed – nature stood against us, there was no snow. An adequate comparison is probably for a theatrical premiere – one tries, tries and it doesn’t succeed. There were also no such media options at the time, so it took two years for the work to become famous. And then it suddenly hit.

The song “Where’s your bird’s nest?”

Definitely – Gott is just Gott. Karel Gott’s singing is missing in the German version. There’s only music without a voice, that’s a pity. However, in my opinion, it helped the Czech one a lot, either because of that Karel Gott is a legend, or even because text by the composer Jiří Štaidl is beautiful.

It happens to some actors that they don’t like the role that made them famous. How are you?

It was the first film role for me. I once tried with Vladimír Ráž (the actor became famous for his role as King Miroslav in the fairy tale The Proud Princess) and he told me: “Boy, once you shoot a prince and succeed, then you can shoot what you want and everyone will still see you as a prince.” And he was right .

In the film, you form a couple with Libuška Šafránková. Did you know each other before filming?

We knew each other by sight. Because she went to the conservatory in Brno and I went to the Janáček Academy, we knew about ourselves. However, we met at Cinderella and for the second time at The third prince, filmed by Antonin Moskalyk.
