One of the least popular and busiest presenters of the nineties, Pavel Poulíček (48) is probably not getting old. The 198-centimeter-tall ex-sportsman Nova and the face of the competitive entertainment show Kolotoč first appeared in front of the camera already at the beginning of the broadcast of the first Czech private television station, when he was only 19 years old. Since then, however, he has come a long way, which is also evident from his participation in the program We love Česko, where Poulíček appeared and, although he still looks young, he has undergone a significant transformation.
Since 1994, Pavel Poulíček regularly presented Sportovní noviny na Nová, and although he did not completely resent the moderating, after leaving the screen he began to devote himself to his great passion – golf. He has been the head of the Golf Channel TV station for several years, which is the only European branch of the American media company NBC Universal.
Poulíček also thanks to his youthful appearance seems almost ageless. Although he maintains his slim and slender figure, however, his legendary brown mane has noticeably thinned and lightened with age. This is evident from his participation in the program Máme rádi Česko, from which TV Prima provided us with footage.
He also had his own talk show
He recalled his beginnings in front of the camera already at Nova’s fifteenth anniversary. “When I was nineteen, I signed up for Nova’s audition. I didn’t even expect that they would accept me. Until then, I worked at radio Europe 2, where I was quite satisfied,” he said some time ago for eXtra.cz,
However, Poulíček was immediately liked not only by the television management, but also by the audience. For many years, his domain was also the legendary show Kolotoč, in which contestants guessed the missing letters in mysteries. Thanks to him, he became one of the most prominent faces on television. In addition, he moderated various live broadcasts of festive social events, such as the Footballer of the Year or the Golden Hockey Stick.
He then used his experience from Nova, which he left after fifteen years, in his own talk show, which he hosted for a short time on Public TV. After that, he worked for some time on TV Prima’s sports news and also worked as a morning reporter on Frequency 1.
“I’m not interested in the world of media”
“Now I have my big job, which is not in any way compatible with what I did in the past. I have absolutely no interest in the world of media. I am in charge of marketing in a company that organizes the largest golf tournament on the European Tour in the Czech Republic. This is the biggest tournament in Central and Eastern Europe, there is no bigger one even in Russia,” Poulíček told eXtra.cz a few years ago.
He is still the executive director of the company that organizes golf tournaments. The same goes for his leadership of the Golf Channel. Recently, he also started to devote himself to marketing and PR in the field of sports – for example, he worked with the hockey team HC Dynamo Pardubice.
