Pauses PlayStation Extension …

In the last week, several players have reported problems with the extension of the PlayStation Plus subscription. Attempts to enter coupon codes that come with gift cards on the subscription solution have only resulted in error messages, and naturally many have been worried about whether they have wasted their money.

Now, however, Sony can tell that this is only a temporary thing, while the company is puzzling with the upgrade of PlayStation Plus.

Nicely have to wait

Via their websites Sony explains that those who have a coupon code for PlayStation Plus simply have to wait. Either until the existing subscription expires, or until the new PlayStation Plus launches on June 22 in Europe.

– While we are getting ready to launch the new PlayStation Plus subscription service, we are doing some work behind the scenes to make the transition as easy as possible for our existing members. As part of this work, we have temporarily suspended existing members’ opportunity to extend their subscription until launch.

The PlayStation maker further points out that the code you are sitting on will still be valid when everything is reopened.

– Know that your coupon code is still valid and that you will be able to redeem it, either when your existing subscription expires and is deactivated or after the new PlayStation Plus service is launched in your area – whatever happens first.

Convert to new subscription types

When new PlayStation Plus launches and you want to use your existing coupon codes, you must choose which subscription type you want to activate. Sony has released an overviewt over exactly what you get, depending on what you choose.

This is the conversion scheme for existing subscribers who have either PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now coupon codes.

One month with today’s PlayStation Plus becomes 31 days with PlayStation Plus Essential, 21 days with PlayStation Plus Extra or 17 days with PlayStation Plus Premium. Three months with PlayStation Plus gives you 92 days with Plus Essential, 58 days with Plus Extra or 46 days with Plus Premium. 12 months with PlayStation Plus is exchanged for 365 days with Plus Essential, 219 days with Plus Extra or 183 days with Plus Premium.

New subscribers with PlayStation Now codes are brought straight to the top level of PlayStation Plus Premium. One month gives you 17 days, three months gives you 46 days and twelve months becomes 183 days with Plus Premium.

Three subscription options

With the new launch comes three different subscription options:

PlayStation Plus Essential

Offers exactly what PlayStation Plus offers today. That is: in two selected games you can download every month, online gaming, cloud storage of storage files and discounts on PlayStation Store.

This variant will cost the same as PlayStation Plus does now, NOK 85 a month, NOK 240 for 3 months or NOK 580 for a year.

PlayStation Plus Extra

Contains everything in the Essential service, but also adds a catalog of up to 400 games from PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The games must be taken from both Sony’s internal studio, and from third-party developers.

This variant will cost 13.99 euros per month, 39.99 euros for three months and 99.99 euros for one year.

PlayStation Plus Premium

Contains everything from both Essential and Extra, but adds up to another 340 extra games. This includes PlayStation 3 games via streaming, as well as both downloading and streaming of games from PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 4. You can stream games to both PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. You will also have access to some “trial” variants of big games, so you can test some of them.

This variant costs 16.99 euros per month, 49.99 euros for the quarter and 119.99 euros for a year.
