Midfielder Paulo Uruchima has become the youngest Ecuadorian soccer player to debut in Ecuador’s first division, on the seventh date that will conclude this Monday, breaking the record held by Kendry Páez.
Uruchima took the field with the Deportivo Cuenca shirt in the 4-0 defeat against Barcelona, at the age of 15 years, 7 months and 4 days, while Páez did so with Independiente del Valle, on February 25 of 2023, at 15 years, 9 months and 21 days.
According to Deportivo Cuenca, Uruchima went through all the training divisions until he was included in the first division team for the current season by Argentine coach Luis García.
Uruchima’s technical and physical conditions have led him to debut in the privilege category in a difficult match with economic problems that have caused discomfort in the player team.
Coach García already resigned from the team last week, but this weekend he led the club in which he made Uruchima debut in a match against the most popular team in Ecuador. EFE
