Turkish media surprised not only Fenerbahce fans, but also the Polish national team. According to the portal “Sabah Spor” the president of the “yellow and navy blue” team is looking for a coach for his team, and one of the two main candidates is Paulo Sousa – the coach of the Polish national team. His competitor in the fight for the coach position is Abel Ferreira, who recently won the Copa America with the Brazilian Palmeiras.
According to “Sabah Spor” speculation, Paulo Sousa would join the Turkish team after the European Championship, where Poland will face Spain, Sweden and Slovakia in a group. Let us remind you that the Portuguese coach has extensive experience in working with European clubs, and in his career he has led, among others, QPR, Swansea, Leicester, Videoton, Bordeaux and Fiorentina.
Ali Koç is also looking for such a coach, who revealed that there are three people in the game for the position of the coach.
“We had three alternatives for this position. One is to continue working with Emre Belozoglu, another is to gain experience under the watchful eye of an experienced foreign coach, and the third is a completely new foreign coach …” – said the president of the Turkish club.
Will Paulo Sousa become the new Fenerbahce coach and will this mean the end of cooperation with the national team? Today it is difficult to imagine such a scenario, especially since in the past many coaches combined the job of a coach with the position of a club coach. Such a variant was once decided by e.g. Alex Ferguson (Aberdeen and Scotland), Fatih Terim (Galatasaray and Turkey) and Guus Hiddink (Chelsea and Russia).
