Paulo Sousa has quit his post as Poland coach, which has been occupied since last January. The Portuguese has been appointed coach of Flamengo.
The 51-year-old technician has signed up for two years, until December 2023, with Auriverde training. The former Girondins de Bordeaux coach will have led Robert Lewandowski’s partners 15 times, with whom his contract ran until December 2022, for a record of six wins, five draws and four defeats.
Under his orders, Poland was eliminated from the group stage of Euro 2021 and failed to qualify directly for the 2022 World Cup. To get his ticket for Qatar, the Poles will have to go through the dams. In Lane B, Poland will face Russia and then the winner of Sweden-Czech Republic.
