The health minister confirmed that she will enter the race for the legislative elections.
The Minister of Health Paulette Lenert (LSAP) assumed, on Wednesday night, in an interview with RTL, that she will be a candidate for Prime Minister in the October legislative elections. “I dedicated some time to reflect if I was ready and I am”, indicated the government official.
Lenert’s candidacy must be confirmed at the LSAP congress, scheduled for July, after the communal meetings. But this will only be a formality, considering that several socialists have already shown themselves to be available to support the ruler in the race to the legislatives, as recently reported by Virgule.
Paulette Lenert, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, gained notoriety among Luxembourg residents during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the press conferences, in which she appeared alongside Prime Minister Xavier Bettel (DP), the minister demonstrated confidence and won over voters.
This recognition will have also contributed to its projection in the polls of the legislative elections. According to these opinion polls, Lenert is one of the favorites of Luxembourgers to take over as head of government.
