Paule Kremer Conquers the Waters of Manhattan

When Paule Kremer goes on vacation, she never forgets her swimsuit. And it sometimes happens that the sportswoman dives into unusual waters and for a long time. This time, it was Manhattan that saw Lorentzweiler’s “little mermaid” crawling.

In its field, it is a reine. Paule Kremer is even part of the restricted circle of those who hold the “triple crown“. Like the Luxembourger, they are thus less than 300 to have passed the Channel crossing (between England and France), past Catalina Channel (34 km from the sea in Southern California) and ensured a manhattan tower… by swimming.

Paule Kremer has just achieved this last feat in the waters of the hudson. A New Yorkshe just passed 8h13 in crawl for go from Battery Park to… Battery Park. A great time which will have seen it pass below the twenty bridges which dominate the river. And here are the “20 bridges” on his list now.

All this for what ? For the sporting challenge of course for this swimmer accustomed to endurance events in open water. But also out of generosity. Indeed, the Luxembourger only imposes these “galleys” (without flippers!) in exchange for donations for a good cause. In this case: the fight against cancer.

For this, before diving, she is already doing a first marathon to find sponsors and always starts a sprint with individuals who are willing to help her carry out her fundraising.

Barely out of the water (and its 45 km swim), don’t believe that the native of Walferdange was fed up with swimming. On the contrary, she was “barely tired”. Carried, she said, as she had been by the currents. ” It was the most fun race I have ever done while swimming I 100% recommend water sightseeing in New York! »

She even said she was already ready for other waves to face. Indeed, theformer triathlete wants to defeat another swimming monster: l’Ocean’s seven. This is a mythical hunting list bringing together not only the three crossings she has already swallowed (Pas-de-Calais in 2 p.m., Catalina 1 p.m. and 20 Bridges 8:13 a.m.) but four other hells for extra muscles:

Strait of Gibraltar : 14 km between Europe and Africa
Molokai : 45 km, near Hawaii in the presence, sometimes, of sharks
Tsugaru Strait : 19.5 km just where the Pacific meets the Sea of Japan, between the islands of Honshu and Hokkaido,
Cook Strait : 22 km tormented, in New Zealand, just between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific

At 34, she has plenty of time to train for these next destinations.
