Paula Badosa will play her first final since January 2022 in Washington

New York, Aug 3 (EFE).- Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa will play her first final since January 2022 at the WTA 500 in Washington on Sunday.

Badosa (n.62) eliminated American Caroline Dolehide (n.21) in the semi-finals this Saturday by 6-3 and 6-3 in one hour and 21 minutes.

Her rival for the title in the American capital will be the winner of the duel between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (No. 3) and Czech Marie Bouzkova (No. 29).

The Catalan had not played a WTA final since the Sydney tournament at the beginning of 2022.

“I’m really happy. I think I played really well today. I served really well. I played aggressively. I’m really happy with my performance today,” Badosa said at a press conference.

“I’m finally playing another final. It’s been a while. There are a lot of emotions, especially because with the start of the year, a year injured and all that, there were times when I thought: ‘Am I going to be able to get back to the level I want?’ It was tough because my back wasn’t responding. It finally does. My body, I feel like an athlete again. For me it’s very exciting to be in a final again and fight for titles,” she added.
