Paula and Remco still think each other is a bad combination, but still want to find out why they can’t open up. “I have to tell myself from time to time that it is mainly an experiment. It is difficult to say where I stand. The status quo is very clear with us. How will that continue? It won’t get much more exciting than that it is now,” says Remco.
The two have to carry out an assignment from expert Patrick van Veen. But before they start, things go wrong again. Paula blames Remco that Patrick’s previous assignment on honeymoon has never been carried out, because he throws in the towel almost afterwards. “What I find special is that you put the ball with me. From minute one in the wedding hall, I didn’t feel like you were looking for a connection. That I really think: he doesn’t like me at all,” says Remco.
Remco then comes up with even more examples that make it clear that Paula has slammed the door right from the start. Paula is therefore not interested in Patrick’s assignment. “It’s kind of done for me.”
Instead of carrying out the assignment, the two take a walk. After the accusations back and forth, the tension is to cut. Paula says she will do her best for a nice evening. “I notice that I have to do my very best. I actually wanted to go home now,” she says to her husband. “I didn’t want to cry, but it’s just very high for me.”
It won’t be a quiet walk, because Paula is having a hard time with Remco’s accusations. Especially since he keeps coming back to the fact that Paula didn’t kiss him on the mouth at the wedding. “That keeps coming back and that’s enough for me now.” The two decide to stop blaming.
According to expert Patrick, the ball is not only in Paula’s court. Remco also made mistakes in the marriage. “He starts looking from minute one: what is wrong, where can I find a rejection and do I have a motivation to leave the match?” But Paula has not fully opened the door for Remco either. “Actually, she withdrew very quickly, she put her heels in the sand and what she mainly did was to stop opening herself up to the experiment.”
The two only look for the negative and not the positive. “It was there, but they just overlooked it.”
