The board of directors announced on Tuesday the appointment of Paul Wirtgen as general manager of the Center Hospitalier du Nord.

A new mission has been entrusted to Dr. Paul Wirtgen, medical director of the Center Hospitalier du Nord (CHDN). The Board of Directors announced in a press release on Tuesday his appointment as Chief Executive Officer. A function that Paul Wirtgen had already exercised at the Robert Schuman Hospitals from 2012 to 2016.

If the situation remains stable for the moment, hospital representatives said they feared the rise of Omicron during a press briefing with the Minister of Health Paulette Lenert.

Paul Wirtgen will take up his post after the retirement of Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Schubert. The latter had held this position since January 2007. Under his governance, the merger between the Saint-Louis hospital in Ettelbruck and the Saint-Joseph clinic in Wiltz was carried out. A merger that gave birth in 2009 to the Center Hospitalier du Nord.

More than 1,000 employees work in the establishment. The CHDN has 357 care beds, including 21 intensive care beds.
