Paul Rüpp’s inauguration as mayor of Maashorst municipality on 27 September has been postponed. Cancer with mild metastases was recently diagnosed in Rüpp, the municipality reports. The former councilor of the municipality of Uden speaks of a hard blow, but for the moment he will continue to be mayor: “I’m (still) fine now”.
Suspicious tissue was found in Rüpp during a minor medical procedure more than two weeks ago. Now he will discuss the options with the oncologists. His agenda will therefore be slightly changed in the coming days. As soon as there is more clarity about a treatment plan, it will be decided how it can continue to perform its function and whether there will still be an installation. Rüpp’s agreements are made as much as possible by the councilors who are deputy mayors.
“Inappropriate installation now”
“Until then, I will continue to do my job, which I enjoy and draw energy from,” said Rüpp. “This news naturally sheds a different light on the future. In any case, it is not a good idea to complete the installation now. ”
The city council was informed on Monday evening. There are also contacts with the King’s Commissioner and the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. Rüpp was appointed interim mayor of Maashorst late last year. This joint began on January 1st through the merger of Uden and Landerd. At the end of June the city council appointed him the new mayor.
