Actor Paul Rudd (53) has starred in a number of film and series successes throughout his career, including the immortal “Friends”.
Rudd’s role, as Phoebe Buffay’s boyfriend and later husband, entered the ninth and penultimate season. He stayed until the cameras were turned off for the last time.
Now Rudd admits that the series’ last episode was an unpleasant day for him.
Breaking the silence after the criticism
– Everyone cried
In an interview with the breakfast show “The Heart”, the star explains that he felt a little out of place.
– It was a lot of fun, and they were fantastic! The whole thing was a bit surreal, being part of it, because I came in at the very end, Rudd explains in the interview, reproduced by CNN.
The actor appeared in 17 episodes of “Friends”, which surprised him. The “Ant Man” star was not aware that he would play in so many episodes.
The feeling of not quite belonging really kicked in in the series’ last episode.
– I didn’t know that I would be in as many episodes as I was. It felt weird, and when we shot the last episode I thought, “I shouldn’t be here.” I felt like I was sitting in the front row and saw things I wasn’t supposed to see. Everyone was crying, it was so emotional and I just stood there and was like ‘wow’.
Expert: – Fundamentally changing
Joked with a crying Aniston
Rudd has previously said that he joked with lead actress Jennifer Aniston (54) to lighten the mood during the recording of the last episode. When he caught sight of a crying Aniston, he joked about his short time in “Friends”.
– To break the ice, I went up to her and said: “We did it. What an incredible journey it has been.” That joke fell so flat, Rudd said on “The Graham Norton Show”, according to Independent.
