Paul Pogba prepares his return: a new challenge?

Paul Pogba, away from the field since September 11, 2023 due to a positive test for the doping substance DHEA, is finally seeing a little light. After being initially suspended for 4 years, his sanction was reduced to 18 months, allowing him to return to competition in March 2025.

The 31-year-old, who did not take part in the match against Udinese when he was checked, has always maintained his innocence. Pogba has spoken out on several occasions, stating his desire to return to football and prove he never intentionally broke anti-doping rules.

In September, Pogba presented his defense to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland, explaining that he had taken a supplement prescribed by a doctor. His arguments were heard and led to the reduction of his suspension, allowing the world champion to see the future with optimism.

SUB-CONTRACT AT JUVE

Linked to Juventus until 2026, Pogba’s future in Turin, however, seems uncertain. The Italian club no longer counts on him, in particular because of his high salary of 11 million euros per year. A contract termination is therefore possible, and Pogba could bounce back elsewhere.

A NEW CHAMPIONSHIP?

Several avenues are already opening up for the French community. Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Saudi Pro League have reportedly expressed interest, while in Brazil his name is also circulating. However, no concrete offer has yet been made, and Pogba seems to be hesitating between a new challenge outside Europe or a return to the Old Continent.

Before making a decision on his future, Pogba first wants to resolve his situation with Juventus. He is expected to participate in the Kings Cup in Dubai in November, but those around him have clarified that it is still too early to comment on his next club.
