The young Paul McCartney, former bassist of The Beatles, has had a crush on Britain’s Queen Elizabeth. That writes in his new book, The lyrics. “She was quite a babe,” McCartney said.

McCartney thought the Queen was a beautiful woman when he was young, he writes. “She looked a bit like a Hollywood star. Her popularity with my generation, I think, was at least in part due to her being quite a babe. We liked her in our own boyish way.”
With the other Beatles, he even once played a song for the Queen, who is now 95. But the four couldn’t get much height from her. “She didn’t say much.” He saw Elizabeth again in 1965 when he was honored at Buckingham Palace along with George Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon. A third meeting came in 1997: when she knighted Macca.
