Paul McCartney Collaborates with AI on Unreleased Beatles Demo ‘Now and Then’

Paul McCartney has tackled a demo of The Beatles with artificial intelligence (AI), reports BBC News. Now and Thena song recorded in 1978, is yet to be released this year.

Now and Then was written by John Lennon. The singer himself recorded a demo of it in his apartment. In 2009 a polished, illegal version appeared.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, McCartney can now go one step further. The voice of Lennon, who was murdered in 1980, has been digitally separated from the residual sound. Thus, his vocals can be used in a high quality performance.

McCartney’s former colleague George Harrison Now and Then not good enough. Therefore, the music was shelved for a long time. In 2022, McCartney already know that he wanted to do it anyway.

It is still unknown when exactly the song will be released. “We just finished the song,” McCartney says. “It’s coming out this year.”
