MP Abdel Kamel Ouassagari, a member of the Democrats, recently expressed his views on the current state of the Beninese opposition. Indeed, on the DIAGONALE program, he raised the issue of unity and collaboration between the various political formations of the opposition, in particular the Democrats and the FCBE.

However, his response also leaned towards remarks made by Paul Hounkpe, national executive secretary of the FCBE party, who claimed that his party was stronger than the Democrats despite their absence in parliament and their score below 5% in the last elections. Kamel Adbel Ouassagari then criticized Paul Hounkpe’s position by saying that he “was sleeping” and is “completely lethargic”.
The deputy also underlined the importance of seeking to unite the forces of the opposition in order to build together the future of the country. He also recalled that the organizational structure of the FCBE party was dormant, thus underlining the need for this party to wake up. The guest then indicated the actions to be taken within the National Assembly. He concluded by hinting that there would be surprises to come in the coming months.
