Paul de Leeuw goes into the musical Jesus Christ Superstar to play. The presenter plays the role of King Herod together with Alex Klaasen. The performance can be seen from January next year.
“It’s fantastic that Paul said yes to this role,” says producer Albert Verlinde. “He has created beautiful performances in the theater in recent years. That was like himself. I am convinced that he will create a great King Herod.”
De Leeuw is looking forward to working with director Ivo ten Hove. “A man I idolize. I have seen almost all of his performances,” says the presenter and actor in a press release. “I feel honored that I can now work with the great master.”
Hello, Dolly! is the last musical in which De Leeuw performed. This performance premiered just before the corona pandemic. The musical has no longer been performed since the mandatory closure of the theaters.
It was previously announced that singer Jeangu Macrooy will play the role of Jesus. Freek Bartels takes on the role of Judas and Edwin Jonker plays Pilates. The performance will premiere on January 21 in DeLaMar in Amsterdam. The performance will then travel to 21 theaters in eight months.
