The two parties will each go their own way from 14 October on the initiative of the presenter. The break comes a year earlier than contractually agreed, according to RTL. The presenter and the broadcaster have expressed their intention to continue working together on a project basis. For the time being, Paul de Leeuw can still be seen as presenter of Ranking The Stars and as a jury member at Holland’s Got Talent.

“Recently, there has been a strong urge in me to think about my future without any obligations,” says Paul about the impending break. “I have come to the point in my career that I am looking for reflection and depth. I am increasingly wondering whether there is still room for my way of making TV. There are so many other ways to use my talent. I want to talk to other makers independently of any party and with other makers. I am glad that RTL has given me that space. “

Content director Peter van der Vorst has also responded to the decision. “I respect Paul’s wish to have more freedom in the choices he wants to make in the coming years. We have expressed to each other that this does not have to mean the end of our collaboration. Paul makes socially relevant programs with humor and humanity and therefore still fits well with RTL. ”
Paul recently announced that he was working on an updated version of The cry of the Lion. He talks about it in the video below.
