Paul Castillo Bardales joined the Central Bank in 1996 after taking first place in the University Extension Course that year.
The Board of Directors of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru agreed to appoint Paul Castillo Bardales as the institution’s new general manager, an official who has had a 28-year career in the BCRP and who will take office on April 1.
Mr. Castillo joined the Central Bank in 1996 after occupying first place in the University Extension Course that year. He is currently working as manager of Monetary Operations and Financial Stability, and was previously manager of Monetary Policy (November 2016 – March 2020), deputy manager of Monetary Policy Design (March 2008 – October 2016), head of the Sector Policy Department Real (September 2007 – February 2008) and specialist in other management areas of the institution.
He has a doctorate (PhD) in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2007), a Master in Economics from the same university and an economic engineer from the National University of Engineering.
This appointment reflects the principle of meritocracy that exists in the Central Bank and reaffirms its institutionality.
Paul Castillo will replace Eduardo Torres Llosa who did excellent work at the institution since March 2022.
