Pau: a covid 19 screening center opens at the Parc des Expos

A month and a half ago, François Bayrou, mayor of Pau and President of the Pau-Pyrénées Agglomeration, announced that screening capacity by virological tests was now high.

“As part of the joint action with the Biopyrenees Laboratory, many patients in hospital, EHPAD residents, caregivers or ambulatory staff could be detected,” said the laboratory. These screenings were carried out from the laboratory headquarters on Place de Verdun.

By prescription only

“As of Monday, May 11, 2020, the national doctrine for Covid-19 screening is evolving. It opens the possibility of being screened for any patient with symptoms (cough, fever, loss of smell and loss of taste, dyspnea ), and any asymptomatic patient having been in close contact with a sick person, on medical prescription “, continues the press release.

In this context, in agreement withc ARS, the City of Pau makes available to the population at the exhibition center a screening center without appointment, open to all patients with a prescription virological test (PCR, by nasopharyngeal sampling).

This operation is carried out with the Biopyrenees Laboratory, mobilized since the beginning of the crisis, which ensures that it can manage 2,000 tests per day, with responses within 24 to 48 hours following the emergency.

The public will be welcomed by car, or on foot, with their prescription, Vitale card, and possible complementary mutual. To obtain a prescription, it is advisable, according to the doctrine, to contact your doctor in case of symptoms.

Open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The system will be accessible from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This amplitude will be secondarily adapted to the request.

In addition, the Regional Health Agency has published a map of sampling locations in the department. There are 10 in the department, laboratories, hospitals, and now this walk-in screening center at the Parc des Expositions.
