Marcelo Valdez, lawyer for former deputy Lidia Patty, indicated this Wednesday that he will request the prosecution of 10 soldiers who helped former ministers Luis Fernando López and Arturo Murillo to leave the country before the inauguration of State President Luis Arce in 2021.

“We are surprised by this criminal organization that has established itself in the de facto government (…) we are going to request that the Government deliver these documents to the Prosecutor’s Office to initiate proceedings against these 10 soldiers who have collaborated with ‘terrorists,'” indicated the jurist in an interview with Bolivia TV.

The Erbol network reported that the current General Commander of the FAB, Marcelo Juan Heredia Cuba, was one of the soldiers who authorized the flight of the FAB-046 plane on November 5, 2020, the same one that was used by former ministers Luis Fernando López and Arturo Murillo, to leave the country, according to documentation accessed by this medium.

According to a report, on November 5, 2020, four passengers, former Minister of Defense Luis Fernando López, former Minister of Government Arturo Murillo, former Minister of Economy Branko Marinkovic and an official from the Ministry of Economy, appeared at the facilities of the “Mixto” Air Group. In the last hours, a report was released revealing an operation carried out by the military to escort Murillo and López to the border with Brazil, according to reports from the Erbol network.

The jurist, who is carrying out the criminal proceedings against Jeanine Áñez, Murillo and others in the coup d’état I case, asserted that this documentation must be delivered to the Prosecutor’s Office so that the identified soldiers can be apprehended.

He explained that the military must be investigated for the alleged crimes of cover-up and complicity for helping former ministers accused of evading justice and leaving the country.

“(The military) have to be called to testify and in their statement they have to be apprehended, because we are not talking about a minor crime, we are talking about the crime of terrorism, the same one that has resulted in 38 deaths,” he said.

He asked the prosecutors to declare the case confidential so that the names of the soldiers are not public and they do not leave the country. “The case must be declared reserved because these people can escape.”

According to the latest reports, the departure of Murillo and López was planned and on November 5 an operation was carried out for the former ministers to leave the national territory, to evade the legal proceedings against them.
