Patriots and Philadelphia kick off week 2 of NFL preseason

Only three weeks separate us from the start of the NFL regular season, which will celebrate the start of the penultimate week of preseason on August 15 at 5:00 p.m. (CDMX), with a game between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Patriots will look to take advantage of the match to take a closer look at their quarterbacks rookies Drake Maye and Joe Milton III, who are the two leading contenders to fill the spot vacated by Mac Jones — now quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars — ahead of even Bailey Zappe.

At the end of last season, due to Mac Jones’ inaccuracies, it was Zappe who started to get more minutes. In the first game, it was Zappe who saw more playing time, while Milton III barely appeared to complete four passes and Maye two, a situation that is expected to be different in this duel.

The Patriots will also take a closer look at their defensive linemen after making official the trade of star Matt Judon on Wednesday.

For their part, the Philadelphia Eagles have more rookie cards to evaluate ahead of the new season.

Among the biggest names on Philadelphia’s offense are running back Will Shipley and receiver Johnny Wilson, who will look to become the team’s top option after starter DeVonta Smith.

Both Philadelphia and New England managed to start the preseason with a win — Panthers 3-17 Patriots and Philadelphia 16-13 Ravens — and now both will look to tighten the screws even more, just three weeks into the new season.
