Meanwhile, the Russian armed forces are only increasing their capacity to strike Ukrainian targets with ballistic missiles, writes Boyko Nikolov, editor-in-chief of the military publication “Bulgarian military”.
This is primarily due to increased production of weapons such as the X-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched missile and the 9K720 surface-to-surface missile used by the Iskander-M system.
Also, the long-range surface-to-air missiles of the S-300 and S-400 complexes are increasingly being used against Ukrainian ground targets. Nikolov notes that the surface-to-surface capabilities of these missile systems, even for Ukrainian intelligence, have not yet been sufficiently explored.
“These missiles are already available in large quantities in the theater of operations, which means that they can easily be switched from air defense to hitting ground targets if needed,” Bulgarian Military wrote.

It can fly even in near space, while significantly surpassing similar NATO aircraft in flight characteristics and the ability to carry a significant amount of weapons. This makes the MiG-31 an optimal vehicle for deploying Dagger missiles.
Like the Korean Hwasong-11Ga and Iskander-M, which are structurally similar to the Dagger, it uses a reduced semi-ballistic trajectory. With its high top speed and ability to maneuver steadily throughout its flight, the Dagger is designed to be elusive.
All of these combined contribute to the Dagger’s incredibly high interception difficulty. The first use of ballistic missiles took place on March 18, 2022: an underground ammunition depot was destroyed in Delyatino in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
