Patriot anti-aircraft missile system inspected after rocket fire on Russia near Kiev

The American side on Tuesday sent inspectors to check the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, which could have been damaged after rocket fire on Russia.

This was reported by the TV channel on Wednesday, citing three American officials. CNNwrites “European truth“.

According to CNN sources, the damage to the Patriot air defense system after the Russian missile attack near Kiev is “minimal” or “minor”. At the same time, the system itself continues to function, and its radar, one of the most important elements, remained intact.

It has not yet been established how exactly the Patriot was damaged – by fragments of a downed Russian missile or by a direct hit. Officially, Kyiv claimed to have shot down all the missiles that Russia launched during the latest attack.

Earlier CNN and Reuters, citing sources reported about the damage to the Patriot air defense system during the Russian attack on Tuesday night. Ukraine and the US began to discuss how best to fix the system.

According to CNN sources, the damage could probably be repaired on the spot without having to ship the unit to the US.

Patriot is considered one of the most advanced US air defense systems, including against aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. It usually consists of launchers along with radars and other auxiliary means. What exactly damaged the Russians is unknown.

As you know, the RF attacked the American air defense system hypersonic missiles, in particular on May 4, but unsuccessfully. The Ukrainian military, as confirmed by the Pentagon, intercepted the missile using the Patriot system.
