From 1995 to 2016, the former Czech hockey forward worked in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils, where he holds a number of club records. Including the playoffs, he played 1402 games with a balance of 453+697. After Jaromír Jágro, he is second in the ranking of Canadian points scored by Czech players in the NHL.
“He is one of the best players in Czech history. A personality whose words carry weight. It’s rare that we get a star from overseas. Since the summer, O2 TV Sport viewers can watch three new experts, Radek Duda, Václav Nedorost and now Patrik Eliáš. Patrik Eliáš played in the domestic top flight between 1992 and 1995 for Kladno, briefly in the 1999/2000 season for Pardubice and in Znojmo during part of the lockout year 2004/2005. “Obviously it will be about not only going to the best matches, but getting more involved in the extra league to get the proper insight. I have to perceive teams and players individually, I have to get chemistry and a healthy perspective. I know a lot of guys who are experts personally and at work. It suits me and I’m glad that this offer came,” announced the new expert of the station O2 TV Sport.
“My parents called me an expert when I did something. Hopefully now it will only be in a positive sense,” Patrik Eliáš added with a smile.
