Goalkeeper Patrik Cerveny changes from the Schwenninger Wild Wings to the cooperation partner EHC Freiburg in the DEL2. The 24-year-old was overshadowed by Joacim Eriksson at Neckarstadt.
Goalkeeper Patrik Cerveny, whose departure from Schwenningen was already fixed, joins the EHC Freiburg in the DEL2. With the 24-year-old left catcher, the wolves present their new goalkeeper for the 2021/22 season, announced the club from Breisgau.
Born in Nachod, Czech Republic, Cerveny came to Germany to start his career in the senior division and guarded the goal in the Oberliga for Leipzig, Halle and Essen. In the 2019/20 season, he moved to Bremerhaven to join the Fischtown Pinguins in the top German division. Towards the end of that season, he also ran a sponsorship license at Freiburg’s DEL2 league competitor in Crimmitschau. Most recently, the young goalie wore the Schwenninger Wild Wings jersey in the DEL.
The 24-year-old German-Czech had to learn that training, preparation games (Magentasport Cup) and points games are three different things. Cerveny played eight points games, of which he could only win one (4-1 at home against Straubing). The goalkeeper, who is 1.80 meters tall and weighs 82 kilograms, was clearly overshadowed by Joacim Eriksson, who was voted Player of the Year in the DEL. About his move to Freiburg, Cerveny says: “My goal is to win games and to show really good ice hockey together with the team. Above all, I hope that we can do this live in front of fans in the stadium. “
The new Wölfe head coach Robert Hoffmann adds: “Patrik is a young goalie with a lot of potential and he would like to take the next step in his career with us. We will place this trust in him and walk this path together. ”Cerveny’s successor in Schwenningen is Marvin Cüpper from the Krefeld Pinguinen.
