Experienced goalkeeper Patrik Carlgren, 32, left AIK for FC Nordsjälland after the 2016 season.
However, the stay in North Zealand was short, and after a short stopover in Turkish Konyaspor, Carlgren returned to Denmark.
In the summer of 2018, he signed for Randers FC – 32-year-old Carlgren has been loyal to the Danish club ever since.
In total, the goalkeeper has managed to collect 203 competitive matches for Randers – something Carlgren feels proud of.
It’s quite impressive.
– I have played over 200 matches. There are only five or six other players who have done that at the club ever. It’s pretty impressive though. It is not so common these days to play so many games in one and the same club, he says SoccerDirect.
This summer, however, the goalkeeper’s contract with Randers expires. Carlgren admits that he is open to an extension – but also to try something else.
– Everyone must be satisfied, we’ll see what happens. I don’t close any doors anywhere. I have a good relationship with our sporting director and I love being here, he says and continues:
At the same time, you also want to do new things.
– My children grew up here so I am absolutely open to extending, but at the same time you also want to do new things in your career. Still, I’ve been here for almost six years now.
Furthermore, Carlgren believes that he would like to return to AIK in the future – even if it doesn’t look particularly relevant at the moment.
– AIK is my club, that’s where I started… Or ah, I started in Brage but then AIK and I still have good contact with many in the club and I trained a bit with the team last year. The goalkeeper set-up in AIK is already good so I don’t think they need me right now, but of course I dream of playing in AIK again. It would have been fantastic, he tells FotbollDirekt.
During the years in AIK, Carlgren played a total of 94 competitive matches for the club. The 32-year-old has made one A international match for Sweden.
