Patrick Wilson, known as an actor in Insidious, will direct the fifth part of that horror series. The 47-year-old actor also plays the lead role again, reports Deadline Friday.
For the fifth Insidious the story returns to the Lambert family, the family previously haunted by demons through the dreams of their comatose son. Ten years later, Dalton (Ty Simpkins) is a student and decisions in earlier films appear to have consequences. Wilson is seen again as Josh’s father. It is still unknown whether Rose Byrne will return as his wife.
“I feel honored,” said Wilson. “This provides a great opportunity to build on the events the Lamberts went through a decade ago.”
The first Insidious became a surprise hit in 2010. The horror film cost 1.5 million dollars (1.3 million euros) to make and generated nearly a hundred times as much worldwide. There were three sequels, two of which focused on the medium Elise Rainer (Lin Shaye). Wilson was not seen in the third part, but played in chapter four.
Besides from Insidious Wilson is also known as the lead actor in the horror series The Conjuring on from fantasyfilm Watchmen. In 2016 he received a Golden Globe nomination for his role on the Netflix series Fargo.
