In a new video posted to his Instagram account, famed trainer Patrick Mouratoglou revealed his top 3 favorites to win the men’s US Open. Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev are the French manager’s picks.
“Daniil has had an incredible start to the season, he’s a Grand Slam winner. I’d be very interested to see if he’s capable of winning a lot of tournaments on hard courts this summer like he has in the past, because if so, will be one of those who can win the US Open.
And then of course Sinner, Holger Rune and others, but you will have Alcaraz, Djokovic, Medvedev, three guys who are close in terms of their level for winning a Grand Slam,” Mouratoglou said on Instagram.
Mouratoglou believes Alcaraz are not at the level of the Big Three
Recently Patrick Mouratoglou has dismissed people arguing that Carlos Alcaraz is on the same level as the Big Three, all of whom have won around 20 Grand Slams.
“I don’t like the idea of the Big Three label for Alcaraz. We’re in a different era. There’s no Big Three anymore anyway. There’s Novak, who dominates the game, and then comes Carlos, wins two Grand Slams at the age of 20 and is in an incredible position.
And he shows incredible qualities. Calling him part of the Big Three makes no sense to me. If you look at today’s game, there’s Novak and Carlos, Daniil who’s very close, he’s winning a lot, and all the others who are below.
That’s not to say they can’t win a Grand Slam, but for now they’re still under. In the Big Three, we’re talking about Roger, Rafa, Novak, guys who have 20+ Grand Slams. To call someone in the men’s tour part of the Big Three makes no sense to me,” said Patrick Mouratoglou.
