Patrick Mahomes, quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, considered this Tuesday that it is early to talk about his team’s dynasty, but he stressed that the recipe for success is to have continuity and “not settle”, in a press conference organized in Las Vegas five days before the Super Bowl match against the San Francisco 49ers.

“You have to have continuity and not settle, do what you have to do. You can’t say it’s a dynasty until it’s over. For me it’s about being great until the end of my career and from there we’ll see,” Mahomes said.

The 28-year-old leader of the Chiefs will fight on Sunday in Las Vegas for the third Super Bowl of his career. He will be the first quarterback to start four NFL seasons before turning 30.

Mahomes assured that the Chiefs will have to “match the intensity” of the 49ers on every play and “know when it’s time to be aggressive.”

Mahomes recognizes Kelce’s work

He dedicated heartfelt praise to his teammates for the work they have done so far this season, particularly to his tight end Travis Kelce.

“Travis always wants the ball, he wants to win. I always want to play with people who give everything,” he said.

What did Andy Reid say?

Coach Andy Reid, who is preparing for his fifth Super Bowl, also participated in the press conference, organized at the Chiefs hotel in Las Vegas.

“I think when you’re in the process, you don’t look at that dynasty thing, you’re focused on the next game. If you don’t do that, you’ll probably have a problem and lose that pedestal. We can’t put our energies into that. We focus on this game against a great team,” Reid said.

Reid, the fourth winningest coach ever in the NFL (258 wins), acknowledged that he has a special memory of his first victory in the Super Bowl and that he tries to learn from his defeats.

He also praised 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, whom he considers “one of the best coaches in the NFL.”

“I have total respect for him, he has a great offensive mentality, but he is also very good defensively,” he said.

The Chiefs and the 49ers will meet this Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in Super Bowl LVIII.
