Another drama in the Tour of Poland. In full sprint, Fabio Jakobsen (23), the Dutch sprinter of Deceuninck-Quick Step, was driven into the nadar fences yesterday afternoon by his countryman Dylan Groenewegen. Jakobsen made a horrific fall and was taken to hospital in a very worrying condition. Quick-Step boss Patrick Lefevere is furious: “This was an assassination attempt by Groenewegen. I take him to court. ”

They had to throw him in prison. Minutes after the chilling fall of his rider Fabio Jakobsen, Lefevere reacted furiously on Twitter yesterday afternoon. And hours after the fall, the anger had not yet passed. “I’ve never been so angry,” said Lefevere. “What Groenewegen does is criminal. Those are deliberate blows and injuries. You do not do that. I have never seen such a dirty action. That’s an assassination attempt. ”

The first stage in the Tour of Poland ended yesterday in a mass sprint with Groenewegen and Jakobsen as the main protagonists. Groenewegen headed into the last hundred meters, but felt Jakobsen coming to his right and closed the door. The result was a terrible fall in which Jakobsen was catapulted against and over the nadar gates at a speed of more than 70 kilometers per hour.

There was an immediate panic. Jakobsen was bleeding profusely, even being resuscitated, according to local sources, and taken to hospital in an artificial coma. According to the race doctor of the Tour of Poland, Jakobsen fought for his life.

Also for Patrick Lefevere, it was still scary waiting yesterday evening. There is no doubt that he does not want to leave this without consequences. “I am considering going straight to a criminal court. I don’t understand this at all. ”
