Actor and pilot Patrick Dempsey was named this year’s sexiest man by People magazine. Dempsey is recognized for playing neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd in the hit series “Grey’s Anatomy.”
The 57-year-old actor expressed his surprise through an interview with the popular magazine, “When I found out, I was completely shocked and started laughing, as if it were a joke.” He also admitted that this new title flatters his ego but that he will use it for more positive actions.

This small list has been made since 1985, crowning recognized stars such as George Clooney, Richard Gere or Harrison Ford. Last year the title was awarded to the well-known “Captain America”, Chris Evans.
This year, Dempsey beat out younger stars like John Legend, Michael B. Jordan, Paul Rudd, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Hemsworth, Bradley Cooper, Dwayne Johnson, Adam Levine and David Beckham.
Patrick Dempsey is about to release his new film “Ferrari”, which will be directed by Michael Mann. Dempsey will play the Italian Formula 1 driver Piero Taruffi, and will share the cast with Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz.
